Toshie Matsuyama, 86, of Mountain View died June 19, 2015, at her residence. Born in Wailuku, Maui, she was retired from the former Hilo Hospital Dietary Department and was a member of the Mountain View Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived daughter, Judy Ann (Arthur Jones) Bright of Hilo; son, Anthony Hernandez of Mountain View; brother, William (Remy) Takiguchi of Kahalui, Maui; sisters, Katsuko Enoki of Pukalani, Maui, Yoshiko Fujiwara of Makawao, Maui, Heidi Takitani of Kahalui, Maui, Stella (Mits) Tamura of Gardena, Calif.; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Antone Amaral Jr.

Antone “Tony” Amaral Jr., 84, of Hilo died June 9, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on March 28, 1931, in Hilo, he was a retired maintenance mechanic and plumber for the Army Schofield Pohakuloa Training Area, a former maintenance supervisor at Kilauea Military Camp in Volcano and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hawaii Army National Guard in Hilo, the Early Irons, Model A, and the Road Devils Car clubs.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. July 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. July 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn. Burial will follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Section 7.

He is survived by wife, Lorraine Amaral of Hilo; daughter, Roxcie (Randy) Waltjen of Hilo; son, Antone (Jendi Saldana) Amaral of Hilo; four grandchildren; one aunt; numerous nieces and nephews.

Janice Buder

Janice Reiko Sumitani Buder, 66, of Honolulu died June 27, 2015, at St. Francis Hospice Nuuanu. Born Sept. 17, 1948, in Hilo, she was an Erich’s Eurocars secretary and office manager.

Clarencia Fokno Salmo, 71, of Naalehu died June 18, 2015, at home. Born on March 21, 1944, in Barlig, Mountain Province, Philippines, she was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse for Ka’u Hospital and member of Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 6 p.m July 10 at the family residence 95-1124 Niu St., Naalehu for an all-night vigil. Friends may also call at 8 a.m. July 11 at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn. Burial will be held at Naalehu Community Cemetery.

Adeline Kealohapauoleo-kekapakilikaopipio Hauanio, 81, of Pahoa died June 17, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker, member of Ka Mauloa O Ka Malamalama Church, Alu Like Kupuna Program of Pahoa and the Leilani Community Neighborhood Watch.

Flordeliza Baleba Badua, 89, of Pahoa died June 21, 2015, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born June 6, 1926, in the Philippines, she was a homemaker and a member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Rosita Palisbo, 81, of Ookala died June 21, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born June 25, 1933, in Hilo, she was a homemaker.

Dorothy Park Kataoka, 87, of Hilo died June 24, 2015, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born April 18, 1928, in Kaiwiki (Hilo), she was retired from the former Hilo Hospital as director of occupational therapy, member of the First United Protestant Church in Hilo and charter member of Aha Puhala O Puna.

She is survived by husband, Shigeru Kataoka of Hilo; daughter, Jan (Richard) Eber of Kailua, Oahu; son, Jun Kataoka of Hilo; two grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

William Barkley

William “Tony” Anthony Barkley, 73, of Waimea died June 14, 2015, at his residence. Born Feb. 24, 1942, in Elkin, N.C., he was a park ranger, a U.S. Customs agent, retired police officer, teacher for Kamehameha Schools at Kapalama and an Army veteran.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. July 11 at Imiola Congregational Church in Waimea for a 10:30 a.m. service. Refreshments will follow.

He is survived by wife, Aletha Lindsey-Barkley of Waimea; numerous numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph Gambsky

Joseph Carl Gambsky, 63, of Volcano died April 30, 2015, at home. Born Oct. 2, 1951, in Hilo, he was a roads and trails supervisor at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and a Navy Seabees Construction Battalion veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 11 at New Hope Hilo, Hawaii at 840 Kupulau Road for an 11 a.m. service. Urn committal will be held at a later date at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Gambsky of Volcano; daughters, Lori Kaniho of Volcano, Jenny Gambsky of Kailua-Kona; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Demetri Gambsky of Keaau; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.

Frank Perez, 86, of Kapaau died June 22, 2015, at home. Born December 11, 1928, in North Kohala, he was a retired field supervisor for New Moo, a field supervisor for Island Harvest, an overhead irrigation supervisor for Kohala Sugar Plantation, a field worker for Hawaiian Holiday, member of Landmark Baptist Church and an Army veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 11 at Landmark Baptist Church in Kapaau for a 10 a.m. service. Burial will follow in the Hawi County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Ernest Rodrigues, 78, died June 24, 2015, at his residence in San Jose, Calif. He was born on June 1, 1936, on Hawaii Island.

Ruth Audrey Wilkes, 84, of Mountain View and formerly of Moreno Valley, Calif. died June 21, 2015, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 9, 1930, in New York, she was a retired housekeeper, member of the Mountain View Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, former member of the Alessandro Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Moreno Valley, Calif.

Danette “Sis” Awapuhi Kamelamela, 57, of Hilo died May 14, 2015, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born Dec. 22, 1957, in Oceanside, Calif., she was a former receptionist for Alu Like on Oahu and a former volunteer for Thy Word Ministries, member of the Hawaiian Bowling Club and Puuwai Opio Kupuna Softball League.

Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Aug. 15 at Wailoa State Park Pavilion II for a celebration of life. Family requests aoha attire be worn.

Danelle (Dani) Ann Carriaga Pascual, 55, of Ocean View died June 22, 2015, at home. Born June 4, 1960, in Honolulu, she was a cashier for Aloha Petroleum and the former Circus Shop US.

Ruth Irene Miller, 89, of Keaau died June 29, 2015, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born Oct. 21, 1925, in Salem, Ore., she was a retired stenographer for the state courts and a member of the Paradise Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Jane Elizabeth Carter, 92, of Holualoa died June 28, 2015, at her residence. Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Walla Walla, Wash., she was a homemaker and former business owner.
